Sri Aiyaswamy is a tech entrepreneur from San Jose, California. She has been a successful player in the tech industry for more than 20 years. She is brains behind highly successful tech firms such as Ravel Software and Strataserv. Sri owes her success to a number of factors, key among them being her technical expertise and a strong business acumen. In terms of technical expertise, Sri holds a bachelor’s degree in computer science and a master’s degree in the same field. In terms of business capabilities, Sri has exemplary people skills. These help her immensely in marketing, an area where networks are priceless. Sri Aiyaswamy is such an experienced leader that when she handled sales at Ravel software, she was able to drive up sales by over 60% in slightly over a year. That’s not an easy feat for a startup and speaks volumes of a capabilities as a marketer. Not only is she capable, she is also very passionate about marketing and entrepreneurship in general. She enjoys solving problems and takes an outside the box approach whenever she is confronted with business challenges. Where did the idea for your company come from?

Strataserv: for Strategic Services focused on IT and Engineering departments to execute highly visible projects.

What does your typical day look like and how do you make it productive?

The first hour at work is for dedicated to meeting with all the employees including recruiters, sales and accounting to plan the day. The rest of the day is spent executing the tasks.

How do you bring ideas to life?

Ideas come in everyday by meeting with people and reading about the growing and changing trends in the industry.

What’s one trend that excites you?

This interactivity paradox is what really excites me: technology that is invisible and technology that creates highly immersive experiences.

What is one habit of yours that makes you more productive as an entrepreneur?

Very important to be on time at work and at meeting with customers and work smartly so that one need not work more than 8 hrs a day.

What advice would you give your younger self?

Have a little more patience.

As an entrepreneur, what is the one thing you do over and over and recommend everyone else do?

Being persistent.

What is one strategy that has helped you grow your business?

Grow only when there is sufficient income.

What is one failure you had as an entrepreneur, and how did you overcome it?

Would drop clients who did not give business.
Maintained a database and revisited them even after a year.

Business Consulting.

Attended a Concert of one of my favorite singers. Learnt a lot more about him.
